Aug 6, 2000 Tape

This is among my favorite shows from the absolutely stacked Summer 2000 tour. I know that's a bold statement to make, especially given LT3 and what happened in September 2000, but it's nearly great from start to finish (the low point is… I have no idea!), is the only show ever to include what I feel are the band's five best songs (STONE, #41, CRUSH, SEEK UP, and LIE IN), and has one of my all-time favorite performance of #41. That combination is really tough to beat. Like all top shows, every person on stage is playing at or close to at the top of their game—Boyd included. The Christmas Song chant, in early August, cracks me up, as does Dave's rant about spam. Anyway, I love the show, and the tape is pretty solid for where the tech was nearly 26 years ago. If this were a properly mixed official release I'd almost certainly rate it HC. It really is that good.
