This show starts with a bang, with great performances of SEEK UP and BEST (the latter is particularly good, with excellent layering throughout), then is almost completely uninspiring—not bad, just nothing to write home about—for most of the rest of the set. It picks up again with HELP MYSELF, which is a great performance, maintains through a unique performance of WHAT WOULD (is Carter playing bongos?), then slays with outstanding performances of MINARETS and RECENTLY (the latter jamming in nearly every interpolation known to human kind) before finishing with a strong performance of SATELLITE. It’s kind of like a mediocre sandwich: great bread but mediocre fillings. There are better 1994 shows to put on. I assume this was chosen for release because of the first and only performance of ME AND HER, but I find that song to be forgettable. Again: the rest of the show isn’t bad, it just isn’t particularly noteworthy.
