This show alternates between highs and lows, which makes it a bit of a difficult listen, at least for me. On the one hand, SEEK UP, LOVER, JIMI, ANTS, and HALLOWEEN are all fine—certainly not good, but not let-me-rush-back-to-relisten good. On the other hand, NANCIES, BEST, RHYME, TRIPPING, SAY BYE, RECENTLY, WAREHOUSE, and #36 range from very good to excellent. NANCIES is a candidate for best-ever performance of the song, with Boyd and Roi going absolutely nuts over Carter and Stefan's groove. BEST is rocking. RHYME is outstanding, with so much explosive energy. SAY BYE is surprisingly strongly; I thought it would be a jumble of early lyrics but it had actually found its footing by this point. #36 has high-quality scatting and Boyd plucking. I don't particularly care for GET IN LINE (never have), but this was the first time I realized how heavily HELP MYSELF borrows from it. If you don't already own this release I probably wouldn't encourage you to buy it, but if you do own it, it's probably worth a revisit.
