What I like most about this release is how it illustrates the progression in Dave's songwriting, and to some extent his rhythmic approach to guitar, since DL4, which took place 14 months earlier. The first five songs in this show hadn't been written (or at least weren't known) at the time of DL4. Two of them (OH and STAY OR LEAVE) are in what was then a new tuning for Dave (high B), and one of them (SOME DEVIL) was a return to the baritone electric that defined Everyday and turned off a good portion of the fanbase. I think that's interesting; if you were an "old school fan," you'd have been waiting the last song to hear anything from the Big 3, and yet every song (possibly with the exception of EVERYDAY) is compelling and performed well. With only 42 minutes of music my rating should be taken with a grain of salt.
