Live Trax Vol. 15

This is the first Live Trax without Roi, one of the earliest shows without Roi, and took place before he died, so a unique time to be sure. At the risk of offending or upsetting people, it reminds me of why for a brief period of time I thought Jeff was an upgrade. Jeff was another thing back in 2008 and into 2010 or so. He can never be Roi, and I no longer think he is or ever was an upgrade over him, but he’s really something else in this show. The highlights of the show for me are MONKEY (Rashawn and Tim make it sound so fresh), BARTENDER (a great performance even by 2008 standards, which is saying a lot), SPOON (although not without its hiccups), EH HEE (one of my favorite performances of it), HALLOWEEN (one of the great post-1998 performances; great improv lyrics, great guitar work by Tim, and awesome work by Carter), CRUSH (I like the Jeff’s effect!), DIE TRYING (Jeff brought much-needed energy to it), ANTS (fucking awesome, one of the best-ever performances), and the powerhouse encore of DON’T DRINK followed by TWO STEP.
