Live Trax Vol. 16

This is a great show, as are most 2000 shows, although I rank it comfortably behind LT3, which remains the gold standard for me. Summer 2000 is a top-2 greatest tour for #41, along with Summer 2004, and it's a great way to kick off any show. Dave's guitar and Carter's snare both sound like they're underwater in WAREHOUSE, which hurts it for me. ONE SWEET is beautiful, even with the broken guitar string; Roi was so eager to start the instrumental intro that he almost beat Dave to it. SAY BYE is awesome; Summer 2000 is probably the best era for this song, even if Dave's wailing on this performance isn't top notch. Roi's solo on JIMI is great, and then Dave does his thing; who needs a guest when you have these five doing their Summer 2000 thing? TYPICAL is just beautiful; I really miss Roi's flute on it. Come to think of it, Roi's flute is all over this show. LITTLE THING is a nice treat, but not comparable to LT4 or LT63. GREY ST. is a below-average performance for 2000—not bad, just below average. BARTENDER is a top-5 all-time great performance of this song, IMO (other candidates include 6/19/2000, 9/4/2000, 7/25/2001, 4/7/2002, 7/28/2002, and 8/19/2008); the double sax is awesome. CRUSH has always been a great song, and is here, although it isn't one of my favorite performances. JTR is phenomenal; Danny Myers slays. Probably the highlight of the show for me. DITCH is a perfect E1, and the ending to TWO STEP is very cool with the guitar noodling and intricate drumming.
