This is an unusually electric-sounding show, even by 2008 standards, and while it has good performances (and is long—the tenth longest ever by song time, according to the Almanac), it doesn’t really do it for me. Highlights are SAY BYE with Carlos Malta, which is genuinely excellent, as well as BARTENDER, DIE TRYING, STONE, and DON’T DRINK, which has unique lyrics for the Brazilian setting. I miss #41 in this form, but Jeff’s squeaking is just too much for me. And while the encore is killer taken as two pieces, I found the awkward transition from BURNING DOWN to TWO STEP to be downright jarring.
