Live Trax Vol. 44

The story of this show is that the setlist is outstanding, the band sounds outstanding, and Dave sounds like absolute shit for almost all of it. Dave struggles from the very first words in STONE right through to the end of STAY; the only moments in which it's passable are MINARETS, RHYME, DIE TRYING, and TYPICAL. I'd like to say the awesomeness of back half of the set offsets Dave's struggles, but it doesn't. This ends up being an un-skippable release, by which I mean you can't even skip around to the "good parts" because they're pretty much all rough. You have to wonder why he didn't write a different set (or make changes midway through) to longer songs with less singing (although I do realize there are already eight 10-minute-plus songs in the set). In any event, if you do want to skip around to the highlights, hit up RHYME, DIE TRYING, TYPICAL (the highlight of the night IMO), and LAST STOP.
