As the only DMB 4.0 show in the Live Trax series—and an early show in that era, no less—this is a curiosity at this point more than anything else. The setlist is milquetoast, to put it mildly. Give me THAT GIRL IS YOU jammed out and I'm fine with it, but not in this short form and definitely not as an opener. COME TOMORROW and COME ON are incredibly boring. There are some pretty rough vocal performances here, too: STAY OR LEAVE, SO RIGHT, HUNGER, and the ending of WAREHOUSE. On the positive side, Dave's guitar sounds great on GREY ST., and the jam is cool with the Happy Birthday interpolation. CAN'T STOP is the surprise of the night; lots of funk and drive and without the blandness it usually carries. NANCIES is solid even if not outstanding. HERE ON OUT is a beautiful, mid-set solo. GRANNY is fantastic. And finally, TWO STEP is pretty strong if you can put aside Buddy's electronica. Speaking of Buddy, I struggled to hear him before NANCIES—kind of strange given the context of the release.
