I know people absolutely salivate over this show, but I don’t get it. Sure, it’s 2004, so there’s plenty to like: that SUGAR WILL > STONE, the absolutely epic LIE IN (an all-timer) that segues into HELLO AGAIN with an all-star Carter solo, the smooth-as-butter RHYME > GOOD GOOD TIME segue, and the improv jam into a solid (but not fantastic) CRAZY EASY. But (and it’s a big but) the show is full of mistakes, and Dave’s voice is on the struggle bus for the entire show and especially at the end, where RAPUNZEL and ANTS are borderline unlistenable. Just not sure I see the reason to revisit this one as a complete show over any of the other 2004 releases to date.
