Live Trax Vol. 51

This show a good representation of the Summer 2007 tour, which is to say the band generally sounds very good but the setlist is not super inspiring. SEEK UP is an absolutely wonderful performance, up there with the best of this song by DMB 3.0: the violin and horns are lit, Carter is going nuts, and there’s great layering. DIE TRYING, IDEA OF YOU, GREY ST., SHOTGUN, STAY, and SOME DEVIL are other highlights. I find the rest to be a mixed bag. There are the obvious lowlights (HUNGER, CORNBREAD) but also plenty of mid moments: #27, TOO MUCH (I don’t like how they played it in 2007), CRUSH (a bit all over the place, sadly), and WATCHTOWER (the start is really lame, although the jam is ripping). All in all it’s a show I’d revisit to skip around or listen to in the background, but not in a deep way.
