Night 1 is pretty rough. There’s something kind of lifeless about most of the performances, which made it quite a slog to get through. There are also some really strange mixing decisions throughout vis a vis crowd noise—the start of Satellite is a good example. Dave’s voice is also quite rough throughout, plus he makes more than the usual number of lyrical flubs. Highlights for me were PROUDEST (I really liked Rashawn on this), CRASH (despite the lyrical flubs), JIMI (except for the outro), DIGGING A DITCH, and SMOOTH RIDER. I also like the jazziness of CAN’T STOP, but Dave’s voice is too rough to repeat listen. Overall a show to avoid.
