Live Trax Vol. 72

This is a very, very good show, and a good representation of Summer 2025. The performances are mostly excellent, as is Dave's voice for the era. To me, STONE was one of the songs of the tour, appearing in every conceivable slot and being one of DMB 4.0's best numbers, and aside from Tim's overbearing playing during the intro, it's excellent (and we're spared a long singalong outro). SO RIGHT is great in the two hole; Jeff's solo is really ripping. PROUDEST MONKEY and SATELLITE is, to me, the weakest run in the show because Tim's playing is almost unbearable. A lot has been said about SATELLITE recently, with me broadly defending it, but listening to it a few times through here, especially after reviewing a few DMB 1.0 shows, I have to admit it's lost quite a bit of its luster. But we're right back on the gravy train with WHAT YOU ARE, DIE TRYING, and MADMAN'S EYES, which is a great three-song run. CRUSH is another DMB 4.0 winner, and I'm glad we finally have an official release of it. I rate BLACKJACK among the band's worst songs, but the music here is quite good, even if the lyrics are their usual garbage (especially the chorus). GRACE and FOOL TO THINK are very strong, as is the closing run of GRAVEDIGGER, TOO MUCH (on its own!), and LAST STOP, another top DMB 4.0 selection. Finally, the segue from PNP to PIG is seamless, even if PIG itself is anything but. A great representation of DMB 4.0, although less compelling than LT69.
