I've listened to this a few times through and concluded that it’s a perfectly serviceable D&T show, but nothing special; nothing that screams, "If you want to hear a great performance of X, grab this release." The sound quality is very good. While the performances are generally strong, none stand out as particularly noteworthy, and there are more than enough Dave flubs to go around (including but not limited to LIE IN, SO MUCH, and ANTS). Bizarre timings in LET YOU DOWN; it kind of sounds like they went on low-power mode for the transition and then picked it back up again. A little off-putting. There's nothing wrong with a one-song WAREHOUSE encore (and if you're listening to Dave & Tim Winter 1997 you'd better get used to it: of 29 shows, all but three ended with WAREHOUSE, and 20 were WAREHOUSE-and-done), but the passion intro is so painful to listen to; Dave's wailing sounds like a toddler trying to sing. This is superior to LT24 in my opinion, but my disappointment with the selection has not been lessened; 2/1/1997 would have been a unique addition to the catalogue and I struggle to think of when I'd choose to re-listen to this instead of Luther College or any of the 1999 shows.
