I can’t remember the last time I listened to this show, but I really like it. Of course it’s very heavy on Big Whiskey, but these are among the better-released performances of the songs. The mix is really good, especially Carter, and I like how they include many of his count-ins. Here are a few highs and lows. It’s amazing how much of a difference a year made for DIE TRYING; this is around the time it started to become a great song in my mind. I really like this performance of FUNNY THE WAY. Rashawn’s fills on CRASH are a nice touch, and not something I remember hearing before. #41 is good, but very 2009: a little slow, a little crunchy, and entirely too long. The SPACEMAN > CORNBREAD two-step is a mid-set lull, but I really like this performance of HANDS OF GOD; 2009 and 2010 are its best years. The run from JIMI through DIVE IN is great; DREAMING TREE is fantastic, and ALLIGATOR PIE and GRAVEDIGGER might be my favorite officially-released performances of those songs. TWO STEP is fine—not bad, but not great. I like Carter and Tim on RYE WHISKEY, but Dave’s voice is shot.
