This is the worst official release I’ve reviewed to date. Being a Summer 2018 show, of course the set is Come Tomorrow-heavy, which doesn’t help, but it’s made worse by the fact that it doesn’t include any of the good songs from that album (SAMURAI COP, IDEA OF YOU, VIRGINIA, BLACK AND BLUE). I don’t mind DO YOU REMEMBER, but it’s a trash opener. COME ON is an equally trash E1. But what really makes me scratch my head about this show being chosen as a release is the performances. Dave’s voice is shot throughout. BIG EYED FISH, TRIPPING, DIE TRYING, FUNNY THE WAY, ANTS, CRASH, PIG, WATCHTOWER… these are all songs I like (or even love), but they’re almost all horrible on this night (especially PIG: what the fuck?). SLEDGEHAMMER is downright painful to listen to. TIME BOMB, COME TOMORROW, and SHE are bad songs *and* bad performances, especially SHE, which has a strong case for being the worst-ever DMB song and sounds like a drunk, Talking Book-era Stevie Wonder guesting on a Creed song. The highlight, if one can call it that, is HERE ON OUT, a song I genuinely like that is performed well enough.
